Someone is always listening, Part II

yagi-uda.jpgIn the preceding post, I very bluntly  pointed out, as a few of us have been trying to do, that the capability to DF and monitor anyone and anything indeed does exist. So now the question becomes ‘how do you work against it?’

Well, let’s examine some options and point out a few truths. The first, and largest, is that there simply is NO REPLACEMENT for working knowledge. None. You cannot master these skills without getting out and doing it. The second, is that you should have a healthy library to back up and supplement that working knowledge. Even for websites you find useful you should print out the hard information and file it away somewhere. Even if not perfect, always learning and always improving our positions is a must.

So while anything and everything can indeed be Direction Found and/monitored, does this mean will it? Thinking about it rationally…

Hi Larry — I noticed that ncscout updated his “make your own resistors” comment after I questioned this is a reply … which was never posted. So he did in fact read my comments, changed at least one of his posts based on it, but still never allowed my post to appear. I hope you at least are a man of integrity and post this information so that others can see the kind of games that ncscout is playing.

You mad, Bro? Something bothering you?

Actually you don’t even have to log in. Anyone can post, provided you give an email address. I’ve checked the spam filters and my email. Nothing. You didn’t answer the questions I posed here either, ‘DF’. Shoulda been easy to identify the equipment used, especially for an ‘industry pro’.

Complete and total lie and you know it. I made some posts earlier today and they said “Awaiting moderation”. Still haven’t shown up on your website. Perhaps I should take screenshots of my “awaiting moderation” comments next time?

It’s funny how you question my credentials but censor comments that would show my expertise.

Troll? Hardly. I do DF for a living and work with and instruct every branch of the military and all of the big government organizations (including FCC, FAA, DHS, etc.) on DF. I came across your blog by accident and was totally floored by how much bad information was being passed back and forth regarding DF.

What “bothers” me is when people pretend to be something they are not and fill other peoples’ heads of nonsense while hiding being a screen name and a blog. I present to and work with people on DF face-to-face, using my real name, on an almost daily basis, so credibility and accountability are very important to me, and you sir have neither.

Of course, on the Internet there are a thousand wanna-be’s for every person who really is what they say they are, so statistically speaking I can’t blame you for thinking I’m just another pretender like you.

But if you want a specific example, please have “ncscout” explain this item:

“trigger pullers are running an AOR AR-8200 with a doppler antenna.”

Please enlighten me about this “doppler antenna” that “trigger pullers” (ooh, so cool, so exciting when you call then that!) were allegedly using with a COTS scanner in-theater. How did they derive Doppler information from the antenna, for example?

This content about DF is complete and utter nonsense, as is most of the other radio-related information on the site where you found this. I work (professionally) in DF and radiomonitoring, and I can assure you that most of the information is this post is wrong or misleading.

Want to point out what is wrong in his post? I know for a fact he has considerable experience in the field.
The post is directed at those new to radio-not guys with vast knowledge of the field.

There are lots of people who have lots of field experience and still have no idea what they are talking about. I posted specific items to his website but … surprise, suprise … he never approved the comments. Ask Mr. “ncscout” to post my original comments in their entirety and we can start from there.

The owner of the site I got the post from will dedicate a page to debating you as to the accuracy of his radio knowledge/info
Please show him where he’s posted incorrect info.

Since you don’t seem to post at my site as requested, I’ll address you here so there’s no further accusation of ‘censorship’.

As I posted on my site, explain this video:

Should be easy for an ‘industry professional’. I look forward to your answer.

NCScout is lying — I posted at least a half dozen times to his site and none of those posts appeared. Today when I tried to reply there again, I was asked to “log in”, which I was not required to the first time. Why would I lie? I *want* to reply to his nonsense posts and *tried* to reply to his posts but am being blocked by him.

You are being asked to log in to WordPress not his site.
I find comments in the spam at least 3x a week and have people e-mail me sayi they posted comments that I never saw.So it’s likely your comments never made it to his blog/site

LOL. Posting a YouTube video just proves my point — your alleged “knowledge” of DF appears to be all second-hand. Ask me about something you can’t get from watching YouTube videos.

But for starters : the antenna array he’s using will be limited with regards to frequency (should have a second array for UHF) and short duration signals. The movement of the elements when he’s walking will cause variations in the synthesized Doppler sine wave at the reciever as well. Doppler also won’t work well for wideband signals and assuming (from antenna size) that he’s looking for VHF siganls, there’s going to be a lot of multipath in the environment shown around 1:24 in the video.

Maybe NCscout could explain what component is NOT shown in the Doppler system video and how it works? Or describe one of the civilian (non-hobbyist) version?

Well, the owner of the site did make a page — on which he tries to intimidate me with vague ip geolocation results and innuendo, while himself hiding behind a screen name.

Note there was never any attempt to debate the issues: as soon as it was time to demonstrate his honesty and bona fides, he instead turns to threats and abuse.
