Some thoughts on gas masks…
Despite my avatar I have never thought gas masks to be very useful. Having worked in a chemical plant the strategy was just to get away from a cloud and only someone going into it needed gear. From a disaster scenario perspective getting away from a visible cloud of whatever is a good idea. If it is invisible then you won’t know unless you have instrumentation. Whenever or whatever the situation if you start of feel very irritated, I mean like skin irritated or have difficulty breathing it is a good idea to change you location.
That being said, Gas Masks are cheap. They are generally under $20. There are good reasons to have one. You may not be able to avoid a toxic cloud, you maybe in a fire situation with lots of smoke, and probably others I can’t think of. So guess what my family is getting for…
