I use the Hornady XTP’s in my muzzleloader, .45 240 gr with .50 cal. crush rib sabots pushed by either 2 50gr Triple7 pellets or 95 gr of Triple7 FFFG loose powder.
Every deer hit with an XTP drops quickly.I did have one go around 50-60 yds,then he had the nerve to drop dead in a creek, in NE Ohio,in Dec.
I shot that deer from about 30 yds-couldn’t believe it when he ran that far.
That’s the farthest I’ve had a deer go,most have dropped either where they stood,or within 15 yds.
The 50-60yds made no sense,as the bullet hit both lungs-and went through the heart-lungs were pretty much liquified-just whitetail adrenaline I guess.
