99% done with the flooring job from hell, just have to go back and install transitions in doorways, and where new laminate floor butts up to ceramic tile kitchen floor-because it would make too much sense to ship them with the flooring like I asked them to do.
Been working on the flooring job from hell all day every day, then going to one of the daughter’s new-(to her and son-in law)- houses and working on it till 10,11,midnight,1 am etc.
The kids new house also involved flooring-at least it was just sanding down and re-finishing the original hardwood floors that were installed in 1929.
The “upgraded wiring” was nowhere near upgraded, and whoever it was that hid where/how they tied new romex wire into old knob and tube wiring to make it look like all the wiring had been upgraded was very creative-maybe devious is a better word.
They fooled the original building inspector for the “upgraded wiring” in 1986,and the inspector the kids hired to satisfy bank a few weeks ago.
Thought I had found all the wiring issues a couple weeks ago-but noooo, kept finding more. Fishing new wire from basement to attic or attic to basement-however you want to describe it in a house with plaster and lath walls that has blown cellulose insulation in the walls was an adventure. Had to get new wiring to 2nd floor bedrooms and bathroom from attic,so I could run new wire down interior walls, and between joists to ceiling lights.
Turning the 3 second floor bedrooms into one really big bedroom and one small guest bedroom was the easy part.
Just have one more light coat of poly to put on floors in the morning, then make multiple trips hauling tools and equipment back home.
Rest of our materials for flooring job from hell will arrive Thurs morning-just one load of tools to haul home from that one.
Then,it’s back to normal-no more jobs from hell ’till early July.
