“We can do and get away with anything we want, and there’s nothing anyone can do to us.”  How many times have we heard “America is a nation of laws,” or “No one is above the law?”  Probably all our lives. Hell every president that’s come and gone since I’ve been alive has insisted that those ideas are what makes America a fair, just and equal nation. You know, “blind justice.” I should be treated the same as any one else, no better, no worse. The same laws which govern me and my actions apply to everyone else equally. Naturally there are exceptions like for remorse and such for errors in meting out justice. Anyway I’m sure you get the idea.
