What You Can Do To MAHA – For You,Your Friends +Family

Since the Trump campaign had Robert Kennedy and Nicole Shanahan  in the spotlight, and the tag of MAHA was added to MAGA,there’s renewed interest in our food supply and the healthcare industry.

Let’s face a few facts – most Americans are fat, lazy, and way out of shape. Not all of us but a significant number.

We eat ultra processed foods, drink soda by the vat, get little exercise, and take whatever the latest fad medication is to “cure” our ills.

You can do a lot to solve these problems with a little effort.

Start with exercise…

Going to a gym a few days a week isn’t going to cut it. Gym muscles don’t translate to real world muscles.

Some of us grew up baling and stacking hay in the summers, cutting and splitting firewood, mending fences,  digging postholes, etc.

That builds more useful muscle than working out in a gym using machines.

You need to do exercises that simulate things like carrying an injured friend/ family member 100 yards or more.

Hike with weight in your pack, equivalent to a full pack you would carry in a real world scenario.

Find outdoor stairs, and use them with your full weight pack on.

Do push ups.

Do pull ups.

Do sit ups.

Do squats,lunges,burpees.

Walk every day – even without a ruck/ pack.

It’s definitely better if you do ruck with weight in a pack, though.

Do still hit the gym – just add the exercises that simulate real world stuff in addition to it.

There’s a great book on how to build muscle without using weights/machines.

Title is Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade

There’s a volume 2 also.

Even if you can’t do much in the way of exercise  – do what you can. It helps.

You will feel better if you exercise daily.

It will help with the aches and pains.

It will help arthritic joints feel better.

Decent book for us older folks who’s bodies are kinda beat up…

As for food and nutrition…

Most of the U.S. food supply is utter garbage – even the so called “fresh produce” in most grocery stores.

Almost all of the food crops in our stores are grown using hybrid seeds, and farmed on huge corporate farms  – aka – big Ag.

Meat and poultry processing is controlled by a few large corporations.

The use of hormones and antibiotics is much less than it used to be,but they are still used.

Find local farmers and ranchers, buy direct if possible, or find a local butcher who sells locally raised beef, pork, and chicken.

Grow your own vegetables…

I’m working on the overgrown hedges and the rest of overgrown shit on property.

My now wife had some medical issues, and no one took care of anything other than cutting grass for 7 years. Got the worst of it last summer. Still got more to go, ankle surgery slowed me down.

Anyhow – point is – you don’t need a lot of land to grow veggies.

Anything you grow is healthier.

If you can’t grow a lot – find a local farmers market, buy a lot, and can it. Canning is not hard to do.

The crap sold in our stores does not have the nutritional value that growing your own veggies does. It’s grown in depleted soil, and only grows via heavy use of fertilizers.

When you,or a good local farmer grows veggies – they contain way more nutrients because they are not grown in depleted soil. They are grown in soil that has natural fertilizers added – such as compost, and composted manure.

This increases the amount of nutrients by a lot. Plus , the veggies just taste better.

Can them, and you have veggies that are actually nutritious.

If you live somewhere where you can have chickens – do it. Aside from the much healthier eggs, chicken manure is great natural fertilizer. It does need to be composted for a year before use – if not,it will burn your plants. I used straw in the chicken coop so manure was mixed with straw. Added leaves in fall and veggie scraps, coffee grounds, and egg shells regularly. No need for chemical fertilizers.

I use grow bags here, last place I lived, I tilled the garden. Added chicken manure in fall. Spread a layer across the garden, then tilled it in in the spring. Got really great harvests that way.

Lose the seed oils in your diet. Use beef tallow, butter, lard, coconut oil, olive oil is okay as well.

Don’t use margarine,  or Crisco.

The only seed oil I use,and use sparingly is peanut oil for deep frying. Small amounts aren’t going to hurt you health wise.

Better to deep fry in beef tallow though.

It’s the amount of seed oils in our food supply – they’re in far too many things.

Bake your own bread. It’s not hard, and tastes way better. Plus none of the chemical preservatives/ dough conditioners are in it.

Doing these things will greatly improve your health.

Cut out soda, juices with added sugar, and as much processed food as possible.

Start doing what you can – you’ll feel a lot better , have more energy, and fewer aches and pains.
