John W. Whitehead's avatarJohn W. Whitehead, Constitutional Attorney

“Today the path to total dictatorship in the U.S. can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by Congress, the President, or the people. Outwardly we have a Constitutional government. We have operating within our government and political system … a well-organized political-action group in this country, determined to destroy our Constitution and establish a one-party state…. The important point to remember about this group is not its ideology but its organization… It operates secretly, silently, continuously to transform our Government…. This group … is answerable neither to the President, the Congress, nor the courts. It is practically irremovable.”— Senator William Jenner, 1954 speech

Unaffected by elections. Unaltered by populist movements. Beyond the reach of the law.

Say hello to America’s shadow government.

A corporatized, militarized, entrenched bureaucracy that is fully operational and staffed by unelected officials who are, in essence, running the country, this shadow government…

I try to avoid discussing politics. Our society is so divided right now, that it doesn’t even meet the definition of a society.

By definition, a society is a number of persons united together by mutual consent, in order to deliberate, determine, and act jointly for some common purpose.  What unites us?  How are we able to deliberate, determine and act jointly?  What is America’s common purpose?

I am actually very excited about the Presidential elections.  Before everyone stops reading this blog in disgust, please indulge me and let me explain.

Ignore for a moment the actual candidates and concentrate on the messages that they represent.

At the beginning, both the Democrats and the Republicans had chosen their “anointed” heirs to the presidency. The Democrats anointed Hillary Clinton, and the Republicans anointed Jeb Bush.

And then something exciting happened. The American people actually voted to choose someone else!

The Bernie…

The Aging Rebel’s latest on Waco II-the Twin Peaks “biker brawl” that law enforcement, the media, and DA Abelino Reyna have never told the truth about, and have outright lied, and misrepresented/obfuscated the facts about, and  during which 170 or so people were improperly detained/arrested/jailed.

The whole case reeks of corruption-and The Aging Rebel is the only one who has kept us informed about this travesty of justice.

There’s a lot of people who should go to prison as a result of this case-the majority of them being from”law enforcement” and members of the “justice” system.

One truth the best and the brightest of our founding fathers knew in their bones: government would always be the preeminent threat to individual security, prosperity, liberty, and happiness. Strip away the irrelevant dross and history boiled down to one theme: the individual versus the state. Government, an institution gestated in fear of violence, inevitably uses the violent power that it has either wrested for itself or has been granted against its supposed beneficiaries.

The founders knew that human nature never changes, that those in control of a government would inevitably be corrupted by their power and employ it to their own design and advantage. Their solution was enumerated powers, an overlapping separation of those powers, a myriad of procedural encumbrances, the Bill of Rights, federalism, and limits on the government’s abilities to tax, raise armies, and wage war. The idea was to make it harder for this new government…

Canaries In Extremis, by Robert Gore

Most people’s strongest memory of the last financial crisis was the September 2008 bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. However, thirteen months prior to that, August 2007, two Bear Stearns’ mortgage hedge funds went bankrupt. That was the bell tolling for the housing market, the mortgage securities market, and—because of the leverage and the interconnections—the global financial system itself. The Dow Jones Industrial Average would not make its high for another couple of months, but for those who knew what they were looking for, the Bear Stearns’ bankruptcies signaled the impending reversal in financial markets and the economy.

Sometimes one has to see the big picture, and sometimes looking at a host of smaller pictures is more worthwhile. While housing and mortgage finance were the epicenters of the last crisis, there will probably be no single identifiable catalyst for the next one. Not because there are no central-bank sponsored debt-driven bubbles out…
