“yeah Sa’rnt, the long whip wasn’t hitting the TOC from inside these walls.” I replied. The thick mud walls of the compound were hell on a signal, and the makeshift TOC the commo guys had set up on the next ridge was having a hard time hearing us. It was either hang out on the roof in 19 degree cold, exposed, or get out of the wind and put up an improvised Vee out the window.

Posted: November 21, 2016 by gamegetterII in UncategorizedDriving through rural Ohio on the way to and from deer hunting on Sat,we saw a lot of farms for sale-several that have been there since I first started hunting the area back in the mid 1970’s.
It’s not due to development,the only new buildings in the area are a few modular homes,and a Dollar General Store-no McMansions,no Wal-Marts.
Even a lot of the old farmhouses are for sale. Some are because the parents have passed away,and the son or sons built their own homes elsewhere on the same farmland-the others-who knows.
Some of the farms for sale have been there since the early 1900’s. They survived the ’80’s family farm sell-off.
Not sure what’s going on now,but it ain’t anything good.

A reader dug his up to inspect the conditions and commented on how well the Russian spam cans held up. The pictures tell the tale. 
The author indicated that he buried the spam cans in 2009. That gave them five years underground. They’re not looking too good. For that reason I felt it pretty prudent to post this, since I know many in the audience at a minimum has some ammo cached somewhere (among other essential items…right???) and the experience needs to be shared.
I’m not picking on you (seriously), but this is not how you cache anything. Spam cans are great for shipping ammo and keeping it all in one place for a long period of time, but when exposed to water some problems pop up. Metal does what when exposed to water…rusts…right?…
