    no, it really isn’t. they have the power to propose amendments. period. those amendments have to be ratified in the usual way.

    the whole “they’ll make up a new constitution and change how it’s ratified! we’ll wake up with a new government!” is BUNK. pure and simple. they don’t have that power, and if they try to take that power they’re rouge, and we fire them, and if that doesn’t work we shoot them.

    the John Birch Society is behind this. they proposed an article V convention back in the 80’s and it went nowhere. so now they can’t stand that anyone else get the credit for what they wanted to do.

      We ended up with a greatly altered document-basically a new constitution the last time there was a convention of states.
      Read the lady’s series on the subject-she makes a lot of very valid points.
      Her points are backed up with historical facts on the matter-she provides her sources.
      Yes,we could very well end up with a new constitution via a COS/Article V convention.
      I agree with the lady,I’ve read all her posts on the subject,and heard her speak on the matter.
      There is nothing stopping delegates from adding all kinds of amendments. There is simply no way to limit a COS to just a couple of subjects.
      As corrupt as the DNC and the GOP are-I’m sure anyone with enough funds could purchase whatever outcome they desire.
      The left is not going to just agree to anything that goes against the leftist/socialist/progressive/Marxist agenda.
      There’s no voting our way out of this mess anyhow.
      The only way voting could change anything is if there was a viable third party-and even that is a long shot.

        Article V

        The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

        that’s it. nowhere in there do they have any of those other powers you mention. everything they do still has to be ratified by the states, as normal. they can’t give themselves more powers.

        proposing amendments. that’s it. that’s all they can do. if they do more than that, they’re illegal. we fire them, and failing that, we shoot them.

      Read what the lady has to say. She provided her sources and her qualifications to speak on the subject.
      She proves her points- with documentation -she lists sources for every point she makes.
      She has been doing the talks for several years now.
      The lady knows what she’s ll)
