This post had a catalyst at the Woodpile Report, here.  As per usual, he’s got a great perspective.  Contrarians, however, will take that perspective as a reason to argue or castigate those who recommend what we at DTG call, the, “absolute, bare bones minimum” for the ‘care and feeding’ of your pet rifle. Uncle Remus is right:  1,000 rounds won’t last long.  Think about it.  We recommend a basic load of 210 rounds (7 standard 30 round magazines) and a 1 day resupply (120 rounds) as what’s carried either on the LBE or in the ruck during NPT operations.  That equals 33% of your reserve.  1 case isn’t going to last long should you get into a scrape.
