Get Up and Get Movin Music…

Shortly after this tour, the band figured out the Ritchie Blackmore was a solopsistic asshole-which he was,and is-but…

The man is one of the best guitar players who ever lived.

The guitar part of Smoke on the Water is hard as hell to play-watch Blackmore-lots of the times when he turns with his back to the audience,he’s hiding how he plays parts of the song. Deep Purple was one guitar, one bass, keyboards, drummer, and Ian Gillan on vocals.

Vice: Foreigners Fighting ISIS in Syria

As a sort of follow up to the last post linking JC Dodge and Jesse James, I thought it relevant to show yet another glimpse of what genuine guerrilla units look like.

A guerrilla’s life is one of poverty, motivated by the sole recognition that if He fails, his cause fails. In my opinion this video more than adequately exhibits this truth, and recognizes some of the uncomfortable realities of that life, and even a decent look at the differences in posture a guerrilla leader must maintain to keep his men at arms faithful.

While politically many of the fighters featured are definitely in the Left lane, compared to their pathetic effeminate American counterparts inhabiting every coffee shop, respect must be given to those taking up arms for a worthy cause. They do not expect anyone to come to their aid in some mass…

Young Kids and Heroin-Why?

Posted: April 13, 2016 by gamegetterII in Uncategorized

               One year ago…

Update-the 6 people we knew who overdosed and died is now up to 11.

Plus at least a dozen guys or girls I went to high school with have kids who are on heroin.

It’s so bad in Ohio, they sell naloxone/Narcan-(reverses effects of heroin  overdose)- over the counter,no prescription required.

I say start shooting heroin dealers in the face, forget about prison-bullets are cheaper, and the solution is not temporary.

Why the fuck are young kids doing heroin-and dying from it-it makes no Goddamn sense.

They see friends die, they know they are either going to die,or go to prison, but they keep doing the shit.

Offer them all the help in the world-and they just keep doing heroin-it’s all they care about.

When family members don’t hear from them, they get worried, and usually find the kid with a needle in their arm,or like my son in law-the cops gotta kick the door, then they find an already decomposing body with a needle still stuck in the arm.

Then the coroner tells the kid’s mother she can not see the body-it’s too bad,has to be cremated,and/or  has to be closed casket funeral.

This makes 6 people we know who have overdosed in the past year or so-all but one were the kids of our friends.

These kids see their friends dying-they go to the…

A Mechanical Engineer’s Quick Tips for Using Gears

Posted: April 13, 2016 by gamegetterII in Uncategorized

Whether to slow down a movement, speed it up, or change its direction, it’s easy to find technical information about gears. But using them, especially custom cut pieces, can still be tricky because they have to work so precisely together. I’ve learned some lessons along the way — here are a few.

Fabrication

IMG_1711 gears

» Really large gear teeth can be hand cut. I once made all the teeth for a clock with an angle grinder. Large teeth are easier to make because the distance between the shafts is less critical.
» When getting metal parts laser cut, allow a tiny gap between the teeth of a pair of gears (I use a 0.4mm gap for MOD 2 gears). The output gear will be a bit wobbly (backlash), but this is preferable to the gears being too tight (lots of friction).

Gear alternatives

» I often drop the speed of a DC motor by 4 to 1 simply by putting diodes in series with it — the motor loses surprisingly little power.
» Don’t use gears to reduce the speed of an ungeared motor. A motor with a built-in gearbox will be less noisy and more powerful.
» For changes in speed less than 5 to 1, a belt or chain is often easier.

Resources

» Pre-made gears of all types are available through various outlets such as McMaster Carr.
» Designing gears and gear trains is easy and fun with the websites Gear Generator and Wood Gears.
» An exhaustive treatment of gears and gear design, including how to choose the right gears and determining gearing calculations, can be found in the book Handbook of Practical Gear Design from CRC Press.
» The website 507movements offers an incredible assortment of gear combinations, along with various other forms of mechanical motion, from pulleys to levers to linkages.
