I started advocating for gun rights way back in the mid 70’s,when I was in high school,and when they still taught hunter’s safety courses at the schools.
Back then the “assault rifle” of the time was “Saturday Night Specials”,small,easily concealable revolvers that could be purchased for far less $$ than a S&W,Colt or Ruger.
The anti-gun nuts used the same tactics then as they do today-“if we don’t ban these terrible guns,our streets will run red with blood” etc,etc,etc.
I turned in quite a few essays on why gun control was a bad idea,and would never work.

The anti-gun nuts were wrong back then-and they are being proven wrong more often lately.

“The man who police were trying to shoot when they killed an innocent bystander is now charged with her murder.

Police responded to Vixen Bar in Orlando, Florida, on Aug. 19 after a 911 caller told them a “gun wielding maniac” was in the establishment, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Kody Roach, 23, ignored officers’ commands to get on the ground, according to a police report obtained by the Sentinel.

Officers attempted to use a Tazer on Roach, but it was ineffective because of his baggy clothes, the report said. Roach then allegedly reached into his waistband, prompting police to fire, according to the report.

“In order to prevent an armed individual from causing harm to any members of the public or to any of the surrounding officers, Ofc. Sanguino discharges his firearm nine times striking Roach at least five times,” the report said.”

Marksmanship is clearly not a priority for these guys…

Included in the network are labor unions AFL/CIO, AFSCME, SEIU, UAW, and the Teamsters. Even “labor bank” Amalgamated finds itself in the Democracy Alliance web.

Also receiving Democracy Alliance support are major political organs such as Priorities USA, Majority PAC, House Majority PAC, Progressive Majority, Tom Steyer’s NextGen, and the group that used to be known as Obama for America but later transformed itself into Organizing for Action.

Progressive think tanks get in on Democracy Alliance action as well. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Brennan Center for Justice, J Street, and Center for American Progress are all partners of the funding hub.

The list goes on to include media outlets such as Mother Jones and the Nation, advocacy groups such as Planned Parenthood, the NAACP, EMILY’s List, and Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition.

The chart illustrates how the core groups of the progressive movement are all taking cash from the same secretive network of liberal donors.”
