The FBI’s bogus report on mass shootings

“It’s disheartening to see the FBI used to promote a political agenda, but that’s what we got with the bureau’s release last month of a study claiming to show a sharp rise in mass shootings, a la Newtown, Conn.

The FBI counted 160 “mass” or “active” shootings in public places from 2000 to 2013. Worse, it said these attacks rose from just one in 2000 to 17 in 2013. Media outlets worldwide gave the “news” extensive coverage.

Too bad the study is remarkably shoddy — slicing the evidence to distort the results. In fact, mass public shootings have only risen ever so slightly over the last four decades.

While the FBI study discusses “mass shootings or killings,” its graphs were filled with cases that had nothing to do with mass killings. Of the 160 cases it counted, 32 involved a gun being fired without anyone being killed. Another 35 cases involved a single murder.

Three-quarters of the missing cases came in the first half of the study’s time period, thus again biasing the results toward finding a larger increase over time.

It’s hard to see how the FBI can count these incidents, which make up 42 percent of its 160 cases, as “mass killings.” They plainly don’t fit the FBI’s old definition, which required four or more murders, nor even its new one of at least three murders.”

A very plausible scenario..

This is why people use phones to film police

“A routine traffic stop in Iowa turns into a police officer trying to trick the driver into admitting he has pot. His reasoning? The driver must have pot because he’s into frisbee golf.”

The fourth amendment…

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

“The video, now on YouTube, shows King was quite happy being filmed during the stop. Which meant he was quite happy being heard uttering sentences such as: “OK. I need you to answer me a question. Why is it that everybody that plays Frisbee golf smokes weed.”

The driver, Scott Beckwith, had a frisbee golf set on the back seat. Does that automatically identify him as a pot smoker?”

“WHO-TV reports that Ankeny, Ia., Police Chief Gary Mukulec apologized for the incident. He said: “The officer engages the driver in a line of questioning that is foolish and not representative of the Ankeny Police Dept.’s training or interactions with the public.”

King’s behavior is reportedly now being treated as a personnel matter. The fact that he knew he was being filmed, yet still pursued the line of questioning, suggests that he truly thought he’d succeed in his attempts to search the car.

How many police officers might have used the same types of argument to make illegal searches?

Some might find a certain sadness in the fact that Beckwith told King clearly and calmly: “I don’t trust police officers.”

From Aesop…

“When every single real-world example contradicts their every statement, pronouncement, and assurance they’ve issued, and totally undermined every argument they’ve made, you have to think that at some point, SOMEBODY in the media might stop slobbing the government’s knob, actually do their jobs, and remember to perhaps call out this kind of Baghdad Bob fabulism as the pure undiluted BULLSHIT it’s been on this subject, since these two government spokesholes first opened their mouths on it.

If only because they recall the Internet is forever, and we can call up and link to the articles and newsclips in about 0.2 seconds, at the speed of mouseclicks and electrons.

But if you believed that, so far you’d be wrong, and the media just sits there looking at you with a big smile, shrugging their shoulders, and standing on their own heads.”

“In the real world, smart people are believing less and less of what is pumped at them, and they are preparing for hard times ahead. Maslow’s hierarchy is getting a hard review, and the realization that many people may be struggling to meet the base needs in the near future is bearing down like a mach five passenger train teeming with Ebola zombies into a commuter-packed Grand Central Station.

Those inside the bubble will pick lint out of their navels until they are consumed by the realities they have ignored. The time to get local, get connected, and get resilient is now.”

Police agencies have used hundreds of millions of dollars taken from Americans under federal civil forfeiture law in recent years to buy guns, armored cars and electronic surveillance gear. They have also spent money on luxury vehicles, travel and a clown named Sparkles.

In Douglasville, Ga, population 32,000, an armored personnel carrier costing $227,000 was bought using money taken from Americans under civil forfeiture laws.

The details are contained in thousands of annual reports submitted by local and state agencies to the Justice Department’s Equitable Sharing Program, an initiative that allows local and state police to keep up to 80 percent of the assets they seize. The Washington Post obtained 43,000 of the reports dating from 2008 through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Brad Cates, a former director of asset forfeiture programs at the Justice Department, said the spending identified by The Post suggests police are using Equitable Sharing as “a free floating slush fund.” Cates, who oversaw the program while at Justice from 1985 to 1989, said it has enabled police to sidestep the traditional budget process, in which elected leaders create law enforcement spending priorities.

“All of this is fundamentally at odds with the U.S. Constitution,” said Cates, who recently co-wrote an article calling for the program’s abolition on The Post’s editorial page. “All of this is at odds with the rights that Americans have.”

It is none of any Dr,or other health care provider’s business whether or not I own firearms-period.
Too many ways this can be abused by the feds to confiscate peoples guns “for their own protection”

Gun owners need to know that there are three kinds of electronic records in play. The first is the electronic medical record (EMR), which replaces the paper chart in a specific clinical setting. Then comes the electronic health record (EHR), which is the granddaddy record; it is supposed to be transportable and contain all the clinical information about you from any medical professional who has interacted with you. Finally, there is the personal health record (PHR), which is the record that the individual patient is supposed to see and manage. Of course, by federal decree, all this information is secure, private, and confidential.

The electronic records systems emerging in the marketplace are all built and sold by private vendors. They are frequently modified by purchasers to meet specific needs and interests. The major incentive for providers to use these tools is federal money: the feds will reward providers who can…

Firestone Did What Governments Have Not: Stopped Ebola In Its Tracks

“Firestone detected its first Ebola case on March 30, when an employee’s wife arrived from northern Liberia. She’d been caring for a disease-stricken woman and was herself diagnosed with the disease. Since then Firestone has done a remarkable job of keeping the virus at bay. It built its own treatment center and set up a comprehensive response that’s managed to quickly stop transmission. Dr. Brendan Flannery, the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s team in Liberia, has hailed Firestone’s efforts as resourceful, innovative and effective.

Currently the only Ebola cases on the sprawling, 185-square-mile plantation are in patients who come from neighboring towns.”

So…. with effort,$$$,and proper treatment and isolation/quarantine of exposed people-ebola outbreaks can be stopped.
Places like Sierra Leone, where officials have just given up on containing the outbreak-do not have the $$$,people capable of setting up and maintaining isolation wards in hospitals,or setting up temporary isolation units.
The single most effective method of containing ebola in the U.S.is to ban all people from W. Africa,or who have traveled there from entering the U.S.

Fuck the taking people’s temperatures bullshit-anyone who is infected can just take a few ibuprofen, aspirin,or tylenol, and reduce their fever to the point where they do not have an elevated temp. when they are screened-
BAN ALL PEOPLE FROM,AND THOSE WHO HAVE TRAVELED TO W.AFRICA-NO ENTRY INTO THE USA-PERIOD-NO ONE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE U.S. FROM EBOLA OUTBREAK AREAS-NO ENTRY FOR ANYONE.

That plan makes to much sense-and to the leftists/libtards in power-it’s raaaaaciiiist.

Enact a law that states all travelers from W. Africa must stay with any politician who votes against a travel ban-then watch the ban pass with 100% voting for a ban.

Habersham County, GA — In May of this year, during a multijurisdictional raid in Habersham County several heavily militarized police barged into a home at 3:00 am because an informant had purchased $50 worth of meth from someone who once live there.

During the raid one of the uniformed men, tasked with caging people for possession of substances the state deems illegal, threw a stun grenade into the crib of 19 month old Baby Bou.

The raid was then justified by the Habersham County police despite Wanis Thonetheva, the man they were looking for, who didn’t even live at the house, not being there and no drugs or weapons being found.

Habersham county actually started up a Facebook support page after this brutal display which featured repulsive comments from apologists, claiming that it was the parent’s fault their child was blown up by police because they were staying with “drug addicts.”

Also on this page Sheriff Joey Terrell claimed that Habersham County would pay the medical bills for the family. This was later proven to be a lie.

Now, to add insult to literal injury, a Habersham County grand jury has decided not to charge any of the law enforcement officers involved in the botched drug raid.

A 23-person grand jury apparently couldn’t find any criminal negligence on behalf of Habersham county cops.

This decision was made despite the fact that Sheriff Joey Terrell claimed that SWAT had been staking out the house for days, yet still didn’t know there were children in the home.

This was the expected result-the prosecutor, police,SWAT,and members of the grand jury all work for team .gov,so of course to them, the officer safety division of team .gov can do no wrong, and are not responsible for their actions-ever.

They shoot and kill the family dog, even f it happens to be a friendly Labrador or golden retriever, shoot and kill innocent people when they raid the wrong address, toss flash-bangs into babies cribs, confiscate cash and personal property on our highways without ever charging those they confiscate stuff from with any crime-and there are still people who simply do not believe that we are living in a police state.

How the fuck can these people not see what’s going on right in front of them?

Even the left leaning WaPo did a series on the unconstitutional seizures along our highways.
