FEDS RETALIATE AGAINST THE BUNDY RANCH AND THE SOUTHERN NEVADA PEOPLE

On Friday October 10th, 2014 a Notice from the federal registry reveals that the federal government is mounting retaliations against the Bundy family and the Southern Nevada people.

Federal Register / Vol. 79, No.197 Notice, outlines plans to make the Bundy ranch and most of the rest of Southern Nevada, Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs). 90 days from October 10th, 2014 these proposals will become federal law without consent from the Nevada State legislatures or the people of Southern Nevada.

Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) are human restricted management areas. ACECs have been a tool used by the federal government to gain further control of large masses of western lands and the resources.

As proposed, nearly 3 million acres in Southern Nevada will be locked away from the people. This includes most uses on the land (recreational, agricultural or otherwise).

Listed below are just a few of the outlined restriction that come with ACECs:

This is a direct assault on the State of Nevada. It is also a deliberate retaliation against the people for standing against the horrific action of several federal agencies at the Bundy ranch.

The boldness of the federal government’s timing and action on these matters are astonishing. They are again making a clear case that they are willing to use federal power to punish the local people. Harry Reid’s declaration “This is not over” is proving to be uncharacteristically accurate.

Before the Bundy ranch standoff, there were approximately 1 million acres of ACECs in Southern Nevada. Now after the Bundy standoff, the BLM is proposing an additional 1.8 Million acres (a 280% increase) all of which just happens to be in Southern Nevada.

Although this is not proof, anybody with a little intelligence can see that Harry Reid and the BLM are not protecting the environment; they are punishing their enemies.

How is it that all newly proposed critical environmental land in the Untied States just happens to reside within miles of the Bundy ranch? Is the land in Southern Nevada so different/dangerous/special/delicate and important?

From near the beginning of history, tyrannical men have sought to oppress through the control of land and resources, “Control the land and resources, and you have the power to control the people”. There is a direct correlation to land and resources with power and wealth. All major powers in world history have gained their power & wealth by conquering the land and controlling the resources.

It is self-evident that certain men within our government understand this and have implemented these age-old tactics upon the people of this country. For decades they have used government to gain power & wealth for themselves by controlling the land and resources.

Our founding fathers understood this nature, they drafted the Constitution to protect us from the despotic men that history is so full of. They limited the powers of government by outlining what lands the federal government can control and by separating the powers they hold. Their intent was to quickly dispose the land and resources to the local people, where it is most safe.

We call upon our County and State representatives to take courage and end the unconstitutional federal control of land and resources within the State. The legal and rightful control of the land belongs to the local people. The land within the State must be returned to people in a republic form of government. It is time for the State to dispose of the land to the people, open the land up for useful purposes, and protect the preemptive property rights of the people.

Lest there be any confusion regarding how these new federal rules impact the Bundy family, we will continue ranching as our family has done in the Southern Nevada area for over 137 years. We intend to use our preemptive property rights of grazing and water, the rights that Nevada State law both recognizes and is charged to protect.

We are not intimidated by the past action of the federal government, nor will we yield to their future attempt to subdue the State or the people. We refuse to submit to unconstitutional codes and regulation that dismantle Statehood and deprived our American neighbors and ourselves of the unalienable right so many of our kinsmen suffered and died for.

Yesterday’s election was important. President Obama’s election and reelection may well have represented the high-water mark on how much government the American electorate will voluntarily impose on itself. This election can rightly be seen as a repudiation of Obama, but it must be understood what has been repudiated.

The Democrats are the party of government, and nothing more. The bedrock of government is the philosophy of command and control, a philosophy ever more unsuited to a world of breathtakingly rapid technological and economic change and increasing individual empowerment and autonomy. Obama is a proponent and symbol of unchecked expansion of the government and its power. Someday, in an ironic sort of way, we may thank him for so dramatically demonstrating why that expansion is doomed to failure.

Obama has shown that government is incompetent: the Obamacare rollout, the VA scandal, the Ebola response, the shovel ready projects that never materialized…

How to Fight Viral Epidemics in the Future

Emerging viral diseases are at the center of health news right now. The most significant of them, in terms of human cases and death toll, is the re-emergence of Ebola virus, which is causing the biggest outbreak of the disease in history. But there is also chikungunya fever, which appeared in the United States for the first time in July, and enterovirus D68, a previously rare disease causing an outbreak of respiratory illness among U.S. children.

Humans have come a long way in preventing viral diseases over the last century. Today, children in the U.S. routinely receive vaccinations against nine viral diseases, including many that used to cause life-threatening complications, such as polio.

But still, there are fewer treatments for viral diseases than for those caused by bacteria, and when infectious disease pandemics emerge, the pathogens that are the most lethal are the viruses, experts say.

How will humans protect themselves against viruses in the future? Experts are working on ways to find new drug treatments, as well as to prevent epidemics from emerging in the first place. [5 Most Likely Real-Life Contagions]

Viral treatments lag behind

Treatments for viral diseases have generally lagged behind treatments for bacterial diseases, experts say. One reason for that is simply because scientists have been working on antibacterial treatments for longer, said Paul Roepe, co-director of Georgetown University’s Center for Infectious Disease.

“We knew about a lot more bacterial diseases before we knew about viral disease,” Roepe said.

Viruses are also much smaller than bacteria — about 100th the size — and they have fewer genes or proteins to target with treatments.

“Viruses are inherently difficult targets,” for modern medicine, said Derek Gatherer, a bioinformatics researcher at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. “They have, in general, smaller genomes than bacteria,” so there are fewer places to look for ways to combat them, he said.

Viruses also mutate much more quickly than bacteria, so any therapy that is developed may no longer work after a short time, Gatherer said.

In addition, bacteria are living cells that divide on their own, and a lot of drug treatments against bacteria work by knocking out essential functions of those cells, such as the ability to replicate, Roepe said.

But viruses are not made of cells, and they are even not exactly alive — they hijack the machinery of their hosts’ cells in order to replicate, so researchers can’t target virus functions or replication in a traditional way.

“When you’re trying to close in or ‘kill’ a virus, you’re really trying to kill host cell machinery,” Roepe said.

Doc Grouch: No One Knows

Excellent summary of Ebolamania.
Thank you Doc Grouch

The criminal justice system in the United States today bears little relationship to what the Founding Fathers contemplated, what the movies and television portray, or what the average American believes.

To the Founding Fathers, the critical element in the system was the jury trial, which served not only as a truth-seeking mechanism and a means of achieving fairness, but also as a shield against tyranny. As Thomas Jefferson famously said, “I consider [trial by jury] as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution.”

The drama inherent in these guarantees is regularly portrayed in movies and television programs as an open battle played out in public before a judge and jury. But this is all a mirage. In actuality, our criminal justice system is almost exclusively a system of plea bargaining, negotiated behind closed doors and with no judicial oversight. The outcome is very largely determined by the prosecutor alone.

In 2013, while 8 percent of all federal criminal charges were dismissed (either because of a mistake in fact or law or because the defendant had decided to cooperate), more than 97 percent of the remainder were resolved through plea bargains, and fewer than 3 percent went to trial. The plea bargains largely determined the sentences imposed.

While corresponding statistics for the fifty states combined are not available, it is a rare state where plea bargains do not similarly account for the resolution of at least 95 percent of the felony cases that are not dismissed; and again, the plea bargains usually determine the sentences, sometimes as a matter of law and otherwise as a matter of practice. Furthermore, in both the state and federal systems, the power to determine the terms of the plea bargain is, as a practical matter, lodged largely in the prosecutor, with the defense counsel having little say and the judge even less.

With the media and engaged citizens focused on critical mid-term elections, the Department of Justice turned over 64,000 pages of documents related to Operation Fast and Furious that it had previously claimed executive privilege for, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Responsibility announced Tuesday. Per the committee release, the production of the documents, compelled by court order, is further evidence the administration had no legitimate reasons for withholding them in the first place consistent with the purposes behind executive privilege, and their withholding was part of a continued effort to avoid disclosures “that embarrass or otherwise implicate senior Obama Administration officials.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

“Remember back in the day when President Barack Obama and Democrats were in high dudgeon over “fatcat” super PACs corrupting the political process?

“All across America,” Obama said while campaigning for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid four years ago, “they are pouring hundred of millions of dollars into a bunch of phony front groups running negative ads.”

Take Senate Majority PAC, the super PACs with close ties to Reid (its co-chair is his former chief of staff). It’s the No. 1 biggest spending outside group in this year’s congressional elections, pumping in $47 million, according to recent analysis by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.

The Reid super PAC fueled with six-figure checks from liberal megadonors (hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer and Chicago media mogul Fred Eychaner have chipped in $5 million a piece) has blasted out  more than 45,000 ads in Senate races, mostly skewering GOP candidates. The group was responsible for one in every 20 ads that have run this year, according to the Center for Public Integrity.

And they’re not alone. The No. 2 spending super PAC is — surprise — House Majority PAC, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi’s backed counterpart of Senate Majority PAC, which has spent $29.4 million.
