7 Awesome Rifles For Mountain Hunting

Posted: October 29, 2015 by gamegetterII in Uncategorized

The Kimber 84M gets my vote-one of the best mountain hunting rifles on the planet.

Made in Montana by the Sipe family, started by a gunsmith named Brain Sipe.

Kimber went from just a small family owned gun shop to a full fledged rifle production facility, the Sipe family still owns the Kimber brand, and has full say over manufacturing-or had the last time I read anything about the Kimber 84.

The Kimber 84M is really light-under 5# – which is a good thing when you’re humping a pack and rifle at high elevations of the Rockies, Bitteroots, Beartooth, or any other mountain range on the planet.

There are several different aspects and features of guns that make them desirable for different uses.

These guns are made for extreme weather, light weight, and precision in a mountain environment.

Whether you hunt for sport, food, or protection, a good rifle is important to have when spending time in the mountains.

Take a look at 7 of the top rifles made for these conditions.

1. Remington model 700 XCR II

This gun is an extreme weather and conditions ready remake of the classic Remington. This rifle is very scratch and weather resistant due to it’s stainless steel coated with Trinyte.

1

This rifle is sturdy and rugged, a feature which makes it well worth the extra heaviness of this gun.  Full review here.

2. Kimber 84M Mountain Ascent

This reputable brand for mountain rifles has truly outdone itself with this model. This featherweight rifle weighs in a less than five pounds, making it the lightest rifle you’re likely to come across on this market.

2

It is also incredibly resistant to even the most extreme weather conditions. This rifle has a great look to it and fits well on the shoulder. Full review here.

3. Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS

Another rifle modeled after a classic, this version stands up to the weather in a big way.

3

Weighing in just a bit heavier than a featherweight rifle, this gun is lightweight but far from delicate. Full review here.

Blood, Oil, Debt, and Government, by Robert Gore

Last December, in “Oil Ushers in the Depression,” SLL said that oil was on the leading edge of global economic and financial contraction.

The future is now. The carnage in the oil sector, where a glut has knocked over a third off its price in less than five months, is not an aberration, but a harbinger—the shape of things to come across sectors and around the world. It kicks off the depression, or more accurately, the resumption of the depression that started in either 2000 or 2007 (let the statisticians quibble about that determination).

That forecast may have seemed extreme at the time. The global economy was still growing, albeit slowly. Mainstream economists were predicting that 2015 would be the year it reached liftoff velocity, thanks to central banks’ quantitative easing and interest rate suppression. Those predictions betrayed appalling ignorance of the central force in the global economy—debt—and…

The Best Days of the Rut 2015

Posted: October 29, 2015 by gamegetterII in Uncategorized

Via Field& Stream

You know that the biggest bucks will be tearing up the woods, smashing heads, and running does everywhere. The only questions are: how will you hunt and when? Here are the seven days you must be in your stand.

Day 1: October 27
This day will kick-start pre-rut activity across much of the country, particularly in the Northeast, North-Central, and Great Plains regions, as bucks start trolling hard in search of that first hot doe. Farther south and west, bucks will be increasingly active within their core areas. While it may seem early for midday hunting, the full moon will make that 11-to-1 window a killer time to be out if it’s cold.

Day 2: November 6
There’s bound to be a doe or two popping in the northern regions today, and you can bet that the most experienced studs will be cruising to find them. Meanwhile, across the West and into parts of the southern regions, bucks should be focused on seeking does. All across the country, the moon will be up in the daytime sky for much of the day; activity should be high, notably so in the morning.

Day 3: November 11
The deer woods will be on fire today. Most of the country is on the cusp of peak breeding—the magical time when some breeding has started, and there are new does coming into heat by the hour. Much of the southern regions will see ramped-up pre-rut action, too. And the moon will be up all day.

We have talked about media bias in the past and how the media is not in the business of reporting the news but rather in the business of shaping the news. The media is selling a product to the American people and that product is the agenda of that particular media outlet which, with a few exceptions, is a liberal agenda.

But if this story that I found over at Right Scoop is true this is the most blatant example of media bias perhaps in recent history. Over the weekend a drunk driver crashed into a homecoming parade in Oklahoma, killing four people and injuring 30. You might have heard of this story if you watched the news however one newspaper, the Traverse City Record-Eagle, had a totally different take on the story and ran a headline which blamed a shooter for the tragedy.

Ban Assault SUVs, by Karl Denninger

From Karl Denninger on a guest post at theburningplatform.com:

The woman who plowed through a parade, killing several and injuring many more, is now being claimed to have a mental illness by her attorney.

Quite clearly, SUVs are dangerous in the hands of mentally unstable people; 4 are dead due to this rampage that was caused by an SUV. If we just banned SUVs, or forced everyone to undergo a background check and prevented anyone with mental illness from buying or operating one, these tragedies would never happen.

The silence is deafening, Mr. Bloomberg and “Concerned Moms”…..

“Fear is a primitive impulse, brainless as hunger, and because the aim of horror fiction is the production of the deepest kinds of fears, the genre tends to reinforce some remarkably uncivilized ideas about self-protection. In the current crop of zombie stories, the prevailing value for the beleaguered survivors is a sort of siege mentality, a vigilance so constant and unremitting that it’s indistinguishable from the purest paranoia.”— Terrence Rafferty, New York Times

The zombies are back. They are hungry. And they are lurking around every corner.

In Kansas, Governor Sam Brownback has declared October “Zombie Preparedness Month” in an effort to help the public prepare for a possible zombie outbreak.

In New York, researchers at Cornell University have concluded that the best place to hide from the walking dead is the northern Rocky Mountains region.

And in Washington, DC, the Centers for Disease Control and…

A Few Thoughts on the Anthony Bosworth Guilty Verdict

Posted: October 28, 2015 by gamegetterII in Uncategorized

Randy Weaver was a white separatist, a racist and a radical whose views were unpalatable to general society. In fact, most patriots would not have wanted to associate with him and his family. Their views were strange, and some of the people they associated with were even more unsavory in their views than the Weavers were. Patriots may not understand how someone who claimed to believe in liberty could honestly believe that one race is somehow better than another. One thing that patriots do understand, however, is that regardless of what Weaver’s beliefs were, he had the right to live in peace, and he did not deserve to have his son shot in the back or his wife’s head blown off on his own land at Ruby Ridge. Randy Weaver had the right to self-defense, and the government was wrong. Twenty-three years later, the horror of his story has not waned…and never will.

I made the statement several months ago that Anthony Bosworth’s case was much like Randy Weaver’s. I stand by that today, especially in light of his being found guilty yesterday of a so-called ‘crime’ that was nothing more than the exercise of his inherent 2nd Amendment rights in a way that the government decided it didn’t like. In fact, while a judge handed down his unconstitutional decision, others stood outside the courthouse openly carrying their own rifles on the exact same spot where Bosworth was arrested in February of this year. Bosworth was found guilty, while others stood outside and committed the same “crime.” There is a word for the whole situation, and it’s not justice.

After 27 days of antibiotics, which consisted of a 7 day course of an antibiotic which I can not recall the name of that did not help, followed by 2 10 day courses of levofloxacin and 3 in a row 21 dose courses of methylprednisolone,I’ve finally got rid of the upper respiratory infection that kicked my ass for over a month.

Damn near put me in the hospital,Dr.had me go back in for a follow up in 3 days-said he was going to put me in the hospital if there was no improvement. I was just starting the second 10 days of levofloxacin at the time,so 3 days in- it was 2 weeks before the levofloxacin started working.

My Dr. told me a lot of people are getting this bug,and it’s an especially virulent infection-which I knew-and that he’s already seeing cases of pneumonia.

Several friends got the same bug I had, they just got over it faster-maybe they listened to me when I told them to get to the Dr. ASAP if they caught this bug?

Anyhow,I’m feeling better, and getting energy back-more posts to follow tonight.
