“Tribes, and the bands that make up those tribes are—historically and prehistorically—composed of a physical and spiritual extension of the family. In European cultures this is referred to with some derivation of the Germanic term “folk.” To use another traditional European term (I am after all, of very European descent), your folk are your “kith and kin.” While it will undoubtedly incite the angst of the white power organizations, despite my use of Euro-centric terminology, this is not about race, contrary to their blatherings otherwise.
“Kin,” as anyone raised in the Southern Highlands as I was, can tell you, means “family.” These are—obviously—those people related to you by blood. “Kith” on the other hand, is somewhat more complicated, because it is so often misused by those with a political agenda. According to the Merrian-Webster dictionary, kith refers to “familiar friends and neighbors.” It is Middle English, cognate of the Old English, or Anglo-Saxon, word cythth, meaning “known.”
Thus, your tribe composed of your “kith and kin,” has nothing to do with everyone who shares your national heritage, or even your race. It is your known friends, neighbors, and family. This is critically important, as we discuss neo-tribalism, in the sense of building and forging self-reliant communities. Most native English speakers will be familiar with the proverb, “blood is thicker than water.” The problem is, the common, contemporary understanding of that term is completely inverted. The original verbiage of the proverb was “the blood of the oath is thicker than the water of the womb.” It actually meant the EXACT OPPOSITE of what we commonly use it to reference.”

How Far Do Germs Fly When You Sneeze on a Plane? Pretty Far, it Turns Out
Posted: November 11, 2014 by gamegetterII in ebolaTags: ebola
A new animated video put together by Pennsylvania-based engineering firm Ansys simulates just what happens when someone seated in the middle of an airplane sneezes.
The results aren’t pretty.
Instead of staying in a little bubble around the sneezing passenger, airborne particles can travel up to 50 feet, dispersing in all directions around the cabin due to plane airflow.

Calif. gun dealers sue AG Harris on First Amendment issue
Posted: November 11, 2014 by gamegetterII in anti-gun asshatteryTags: anti-gun asshattery, anti-gun idiocy, firearms.gun laws, Gun Rights

Four California gun dealers today filed a federal lawsuit against State Attorney General Kamala Harris, alleging that enforcement of a law that prohibits them from displaying images of handguns or even the word “handguns” where they would be visible to passersby is an unconstitutional violation of their First Amendment rights.
The Second Amendment Foundation is offering financial support for this action, although it is not a plaintiff in the case. It joins the Calguns Foundation and California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees in backing the case.
It’s an interesting complaint, too. The lawsuit alleges that the California Penal Code violates the First Amendment rights of the plaintiffs by prohibiting them from. However, anti-gun protesters are still allowed to appear with signs that use the words or images, constituting what the lawsuit calls “viewpoint discriminatory.”
“By prohibiting firearms dealers from displaying on-site handgun advertisements, Section 26820 violates the right of firearms dealers to disseminate truthful, non-misleading commercial information about a lawful, constitutionally protected product,” the lawsuit alleges.

Feds flood Colorado River through Grand Canyon
“FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Federal officials opened the floodgates at Glen Canyon Dam on Monday, sending water rushing through the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. The five-day flood is meant to mimic conditions of the river before the dam was built, because the dam now blocks a majority of the sediment from traveling downstream.”
“The amount of water released over 96 hours will fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool every 2.5 seconds. The flood will distribute enough sediment through the Grand Canyon to bury a professional football stadium up to the lighting.”
Then the idiots have the balls to lie about the water release…
DOES THE FLOOD HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE WATER SUPPLY OF THE SOUTHWEST DURING THE DROUGHT?
“No. To create the flood, Lake Powell will shrink by 2 1/2 feet. But Lake Mead in Nevada will rise by 2 1/2 feet as the increased amounts of water flow through the Colorado River and to Lake Mead. The flood won’t alter the amount of water sent between the two lakes annually, as monthly adjustments are made to account for the surge in water, officials said.”

BULL. SHIT. Lake mead and lake Powell are not the same size-in order for Powell to raise the water level of Mead by 2 1/2 ft-the lakes would have to be identical in depth-(they’re not)- surface area-(they’re not)- do these morons really think that no one is capable of figuring out that they’re lying?
Community Based Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Repairs
Posted: November 11, 2014 by gamegetterII in UncategorizedThe 3 prior posts explained shadow engineering and makerspace concepts.
h/t WRSA and fabbersmith
All it really takes is having the people with the engineering background, the people with the skills to operate whatever machinery is needed to make whatever it is you need to make, and the people with the skills to maintain and repair whatever it is you design and produce.
Some things will not take all the individual skill sets,a machinist can duplicate parts without the need for an engineer,a mechanic may have enough skill on the machines to make whatever part it is he or she needs-etc.
The idea is that within your tribe, you have people with a wide array of skill sets. Once you have these people, any long term SHTF event will be much easier to get through.
Not only that-you become more self reliant for the here and now, less dependent on anyone/anything outside of your tribe.
The reason being-if you can manufacture spare engine parts, duplicate parts from anything you need parts for,and have a group of people who can repair, rebuild,or just make from start to finish anything you need-then you can manufacture whatever it is that is in demand, and it will bring needed income in whatever form it may take,be it medical supplies, food, items you can not manufacture on your own, etc.
Basically, you need to have people with engineering expertise-or your R&D team-people with machinist/tool and die maker skills to produce working prototypes of a design, and people with manufacturing expertise, who can figure out the best use of people and equipment to manufacture whatever it is you need to make more than a few of.
You may have more than one person who has skills in any given area-that’s a good thing. You may find that you are in need of people with certain skills-now’s the time to try and find a person-or persons with the needed skills.
You also need a place or places to design, test and manufacture engine parts, chainsaw bars, hydraulic systems-whatever it is you find yourself in need of in a grid down situation.
It’s not likely that anyone will be able to order spare parts for anything,or run out and buy whatever tool it is you find yourself in need of.
With the right group of people, who have the right skill sets-you can make any tool, and any part for anything as long as you have a place to do so. Your shop can be anything from a 2 car garage,to a large pole barn type building.
You would have to have a fairly well equipped shop,or have all the tools and machinery needed between the members of your tribe.
It was not all that long ago that families cleared land in the wilderness of the Appalachian mountains,my great grandparents were one such family. There was no Lowe’s, no Home Depot,no farm/feed stores,no grocery stores.
They made what they needed. My great grandfather was a blacksmith by trade, when they settled a small valley in Tucker county W.Va,they didn’t have all the lumber delivered to build the house, barn, smokehouse, chicken coop, etc. He built a sawmill, using his ‘smith skills to make a big blade, used leather to make the belt that turned the blade, and used the creek to turn a water wheel to power the sawmill. They built the barns, house, etc by themselves, raised livestock for food, hunted for food, raised crops, using farming implements he made himself.
Between the products he made as a blacksmith, and the income from milling lumber, the family could get the raw materials they needed to make what they couldn’t purchase locally.
The families in the area all traded labor or their expertise in a field for the benefit of each other, and the area they had settled. They only needed a bare minimum of raw materials that were not found locally to manufacture everything everyone needed-and have some products to sell/trade any time one person went to the nearest “big city”.
A long term grid down/SHTF situation would be similar-you would be starting out with only what you had.
He kept the sawmill up and running until he was to old to run it,my grandfather and his brothers kept it running until just after WWII.
If I only knew than what I know now-I would have brought all the parts of the sawmill home with me before my great aunt sold the old farm off.
Getting your team together now,and your tools and machinery should be a priority-not because we’re going to have some kind of collapse next week,or next month,or next year-because if you get some sort of system up and running now-you can sell whatever it is you have dreamed up for your manufacturing test product.
The more practice your tribe gets now-the better off you’ll be in the future.
Besides that-wouldn’t it be great to be able to make that one part your mower,ATV,rototiller,muzzleloader,self-climbing treestand,1949 Johnson outboard boat motor, your wife’s stairstepper machine, etc needs? The part you can not find-or have to buy a $399.99 assembly because you need one small part?
You could even design and make the next winning trebouchet for Punkin Chunkin 2015.
You could melt down that trash can full of Mountain Dew and Bud Light cans into a block of aluminum, and make a better sight for your crossbow…
The possibilities are endless-the value is priceless-the chances your tribe lives through a long-term SHTF/grid down situation with minimal disruption in your everyday lives is also priceless.
The possibilities for the here and now are also endless, and could earn you and your tribe some $$$,help neighboring tribes, and lead to you making new friends and allies in case things get sporty any time soon…

Some underpinnings for micromanufacturing and such
Posted: November 11, 2014 by gamegetterII in UncategorizedContinuation of shadow engineering-related info
http://homebrewindustrialrevolution.wordpress.com/
A blog along some of the same lines as this one, but focused more on the theory rather than wanting to make specific machines. What I’ve read so far has been wonderful. I would highly recommend going through the PDFs linked, and peruse some of the material mentioned in them. The base knowledge of how the modern “paleotechnic” system came about and persists is important to know when seeking to circumvent and replace the it with a more distributed system.
More on shadow engineering…
Most production happens in factories and workshops, either here or overseas. Some processes, such as smelting iron, just take facilities not practical to replicate in every AO. Division of labor happens here, and likely a few production cycles can be subverted.
This doesn’t change that a fair amount of delicate work, and skill building training will need a local location with the proper equipment. Restrictions on travel and trade could likely also prevent much besides some raw materials from being transported. A hackerspace/makerspace/fablab is a good place to work around these limitations and provide discrete customization. While some might nitpick on the meanings, the similarities prevent it from being effective. The labs and spaces are intended to bring together little people who might not otherwise be able to afford some of the equipment used, and sometimes expertise. Some are organized in networks, and will have standards that might prevent working…

Great Concept
Someone on WSRA pointed out while talking about shadow infrastructure, most topics, from food to medicine, have been covered, and people are working to make them somewhat “cool” to attract people to working on them. Since no one’s started on it, and it’s more or less what I’ve been trying to focus on in my AO, I thought I’d throw a bit out on engineering.
For our purposes, people who design, and people who make, can be combined, divided simply on skill. Masters design, others help make if needed. People design machines, buildings, electronics, chemicals. Sounding familiar? For the most part, we can lump these into buildings and infrastructure, and devices and doodads. You probably won’t have bachelor’s degrees available in all of the above though, so getting to caught up on names is pointless.
People who fix things won’t have the same expertise as makers, but shouldn’t have to…

Obamacare economist reveals ‘progressive’ contempt for duped supporters
Posted: November 10, 2014 by gamegetterII in UncategorizedTags: anti-gun asshattery, government overreach, Gun Rights
Despite Barack Obama’s crystal-clear lie that his is “the most transparent administration in history,” a newly-surfaced video shows MIT Economics Professor Jonathan Gruber, one of the “architects” of Obamacare, admitting just the reverse was used to manipulate public support for the usurpation of delegated federal powers. Gruber’s statement also shows a quite natural and expected conman’s contempt the elites and controllers hold for those they dupe.
“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber admitted in a televised panel discussion. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”
The reliance on both deception and an uninformed electorate is the same strategy used by “progressive” gun-grabbers to enact measures like the recently-passed Initiative 594 in Washington State. That fraud was foisted on a public that, in many cases, has no more understanding of the issue than what they have “learned” through complicit media saturation of myths financed by billionaire plutocrats.
Snookering the uninformed-but-opinionated into willingly giving up their rights has proven successful, and will be repeated in other states. And how this was done is … uh … transparent, with big money special interests outspending and drowning out voices of reason, with over $10M raised on the anti-gun measure while only around $1M was raised for the alternative measure I-591.
The technique of inventing lies and intentionally deceiving gullible marks whom the elites consider to be “stupid” will be used again, with lather-rinse-repeat regularity, until gun owners can figure out the best ways to counter it. Those will include education campaigns, grassroots funding, and a strong ground effort, meaning the old ways of remaining apathetic will only guarantee victories for Mike Bloomberg & Co.
In the mean time, the message for Demanding Moms and other useful idiots in Washington State and elsewhere is, you’ve been used and will continue to be. And based on how we’ve seen “progressive” exploiters justify their actions, they didn’t esteem your intelligence or value your worth beforehand, or throughout acts intended solely for their gratification, and they certainly won’t respect you in the morning.
Perhaps that’s one reason those who mean to rule want those servicing them on their knees.”
Fat,dumb and lazy-that’s how team .gov inc. prefers to keep it’s sheeple.
