FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports two police officers have been shot outside the Ferguson Police Department.

The shots were fired early Thursday as police and protesters gathered outside the station after the resignation of police Chief Thomas Jackson on Wednesday.

Ferguson Lt. Col. Al Eickhoff tells the newspaper that he didn’t think either officer was from his department. Eickhoff says he doesn’t know the extent of the officers’ injuries.

Jackson was the sixth employee to resign or be fired after a Justice Department report cleared white former officer Darren Wilson of civil rights charges in the shooting of black 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, but found a profit-driven court system and widespread racial bias in the city police department.

A Fraternal Order of Police official said 5.56mm armor-piercing ammo is not typically used against officers

WASHINGTON, March 4 (UPI) — The leader of a national police organization this week said a proposal to ban armor-piercing 5.56mm pistol rounds would be less effective than the government thinks.Last week, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said it plans to outlaw steel-tipped 5.56mm ammunition because it now qualifies as an armor-piercing round. Sale of the ammo has been legal since 1986 because it’s a round that could not, until recently, be fired from a handgun — the stipulation necessary for prohibition of any bullet. Traditionally, the 5.56mm bullets have been fired only in AR-15 rifles.

In a 17-page report, the bureau cited new handguns that are able to fire the round, increasing the likelihood, the ATF believes, that the bullets will be used against law enforcement officers.

However, James Pasco, executive director of the Washington office of the Fraternal Order of Police, believes that banning the ammunition wouldn’t amount to much additional protection.

“This specific round has historically not posed a law enforcement problem,” he said in a report by the Washington Examiner. “While this round will penetrate soft body armor, it has not historically posed a threat to law enforcement.”

With around 325,000 members, the Fraternal Order of Police is the largest organization of sworn officers in the world.

Pasco’s statements give fuel to critics who allege the bullet ban is merely a backdoor attempt by the Obama administration to render AR-15 assault rifles useless.

Supporters of the proposed ban, however, feel that newer handguns available to shoot 5.56mm ammo increase the threat to police.

“We are looking at additional ways to protect our brave men and women in law enforcement and believe that this process is valuable for that reason alone,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said. “If there are armor-piercing bullets available that can fit into easily concealed weapons, that it puts our law enforcement at considerably more risk.”

Still, opponents to the ban believe it’s unlikely criminals will purchase the expensive handguns — and even if they did, the firearms are much too large to be considered a concealed weapon.

The ATF is asking for public comment regarding the ban, to be concluded March 16. But the proposal has already encountered stiff resistance. In the House of Representatives, more than half of lawmakers have signed a letter challenging the ban, and the National Rifle Association is urging the public to ask Congress to prevent it. A similar measure is moving through the Senate.

Since news of the proposed ban earlier this month, sporting goods stores have been selling large quantities of the affected ammunition — now at higher cost.

U.S. preparing to sue Ferguson police over charges of racial bias: CNN

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Department of Justice is preparing to sue the Ferguson, Missouri, police department over allegations of racially discriminatory practices unless the police force agrees to make changes, CNN reported on Wednesday.

The network, citing sources, said the Justice Department would not charge the white Ferguson police officer involved in the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown last August but was expected to outline allegations of discriminatory Ferguson police tactics.

The department would file suit if Ferguson police did not agree to review and change those tactics, CNN reported.

The shooting of Brown last August by officer Darren Wilson led to months of sometimes violent protests in Ferguson and galvanized critics of the treatment by police and the U.S. criminal justice system of blacks and other minority groups.

A St. Louis County grand jury decided last year not to prosecute Wilson, who has since left the Ferguson police force. The Justice Department has been conducting probes of the shooting and the operations of the Ferguson police force.

Justice Department spokesman Peter Carr declined to comment on the CNN report.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who is preparing to leave office, said earlier this month he hoped to complete the civil rights investigation of the shooting before he steps down.

CNN said the potential Justice Department lawsuit could include allegations that police targeted minorities in issuing minor traffic infractions and then jailed them if they could not pay the fines.

It reported the agency would seek court supervision of changes taken by Ferguson police to improve its dealings with minorities.

(Reuters) – A Missouri man has been charged with attempting to burn a grocery store after a grand jury in November decided not to indict a white Ferguson police officer who fatally shot unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown, prosecutors said on Friday.

Antonio Whiteside, 26, of St. Louis County, is charged with one count of attempting to destroy the Ferguson Supermarket by means of fire or explosives on Nov. 24, the office of U.S. Attorney Richard Callahan in St. Louis said in a statement.

Whiteside was indicted on Wednesday and taken into custody late on Thursday, the statement said. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The alleged arson occurred after St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch announced that a grand jury had declined to indict officer Darren Wilson for killing Brown on Aug. 9.

Buildings were set on fire, stores were looted and protesters clashed with police as violence erupted in and around Ferguson after the announcement. St. Louis County and federal bomb and arson officers have been jointly investigating since the riots.

“This indictment is but one result of that collaboration, which is an ongoing effort and I expect will produce additional indictments at both the state and federal level,” Callahan said.

Whiteside was the first person indicted through the efforts of the local and federal investigative team, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office said. But many arrests were made on the night of the Nov. 24 riots, including a man charged with knowingly causing fire or explosions, arrest records show.

Authorities have offered rewards of up to $10,000 for turning in arsonists responsible for the burning of buildings on Nov. 24.

The saga of Shawn Parcells, the uncredited forensics ‘expert’ in the Michael Brown case

Over the holiday weekend, CNN aired a pretty hard-hitting investigation of Shawn Parcells, the man who has become something of a cable news celebrity after assisting in an autopsy on Michael Brown.

Parcells became an overnight media star in August when he assisted in an autopsy commissioned by Brown’s family. He appeared time and again on major media outlets as a forensic pathology expert. He said over the years he’s testified in court dozens of times in several states.

But an investigation by CNN that included interviews with attorneys, law enforcement and physicians suggests Parcells isn’t the expert he seems to be . . .

Parcells, a Kansas native, says he became interested in death at age 12 when his grandfather passed away.

“I actually started doing autopsies my junior year in high school,” he said. “I’ve been doing this a long time. I love it.”

Right after high school, renowned pathologist Michael Baden made a visit to Kansas. Parcells snapped a photo with him.

By college, Parcells said, he was teaching first-year residents how to do autopsies. The campus newspaper, The Kansas State Collegian, wrote an article about him in 1999 headlined “Morbid Curiosity.”

He received a bachelor’s degree in life sciences from Kansas State in 2003, and he said he was immediately accepted to medical school in the Caribbean, but his wife got pregnant and he wanted her to receive her care in the United States, so he didn’t attend.

Earlier this year, Parcells’ LinkedIn page said he expected to start medical school at the International University of the Health Sciences in the Caribbean starting in September 2014. Later, the date was changed to 2015.

When CNN visited Parcells in his Overland Park, Kansas, home, he presented a photo of himself onstage at what appears to be a graduation ceremony at the New York Chiropractic College.

“I got a master’s degree in anatomy and physiology, with clinical correlation,” he said.

Asked where his diploma was, he replied that it was on the way. “It’s coming,” he said. “They mail it to you.”

The next day, at another on-camera interview, the conversation went like this:

CNN: So that master’s degree in New York, you have that degree?

Parcells: I will have it next month, yes.

CNN: I don’t mean the piece of paper. I mean have you been conferred that degree?

Parcells: Yes, I will. Next month.

CNN: Right now, as we speak, you have that degree?

Parcells: No, I do not.

Parcells doesn’t claim to have any specific license or certification to do the work he does. He knows how to do autopsies from “on-the-job training,” watching pathologists and assisting them at various morgues, he said . . .

He certainly sounded knowledgeable and authoritative on August 18 when he presented the findings of the Michael Brown autopsy to a nationally televised news conference.

[Dr. Michael] Baden, who conducted the autopsy, spoke first, and then introduced Parcells, saying he “has been instrumental in the autopsy evaluation.”

“First of all, I’m Professor Shawn Parcells,” Parcells said as he stood to address the reporters.

On his LinkedIn page and to CNN, Parcells said he’s an adjunct professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas — but a spokeswoman for the university told CNN that’s not true.

“(Parcells) is not now and has never been a member of the Washburn University faculty,” university spokeswoman Michaela Saunders wrote in an email to CNN, adding that at one point, Parcells spoke without receiving pay to two groups of nursing students about the role of a pathologist’s assistant and gave a PowerPoint presentation and answered students’ questions.

Law enforcement officials in other parts of Missouri say Parcells misrepresented himself as a doctor:

Grant Gillett, a deputy sheriff in Andrew County, Missouri, said Parcells told them he was a doctor — a pathologist specifically — when he walked into the funeral home to do the Forrester autopsy.

Dustin Jeffers, who was also a deputy at the time, said Parcells identified himself as a doctor. The Andrew County Sheriff’s Office incident report refers to him as “Pathologist Shawn Parcells” and “Dr. Shawn Parcells Pathologist.”

Parcells says he never told the deputies he was a doctor.

“If they want to think I’m a doctor, that’s their issue,” Parcells told CNN. “People assume stuff all the time. And they may never ask. It’s bad that they’re assuming and that they never asked. If they want to think I’m a physician, then more power to them.”

He noted, for example, that Ferguson had issued about $2 million in petty fines last year — a reference to recent reports that the city’s second-biggest source of income came from court fines and fees levied even on low-level traffic violations. Paul said that “may seem petty” until “you’re a poor person who has to come up with hundreds of dollars in fines.”

The senator continued his criticism Tuesday in an op-ed published by Time.

“In the search for culpability for the tragedy in Ferguson, I mostly blame politicians. Michael Brown’s death and the suffocation of Eric Garner in New York for selling untaxed cigarettes indicate something is wrong with criminal justice in America,” he wrote. “The War on Drugs has created a culture of violence and put police in a nearly impossible situation.”

It’s no secret that some of those fomenting the riots and protests over the shooting death of Michael Brown are Communists. A Vine video posted on Twitchy Saturday shows protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, openly calling for a Communist revolution in America.

“The only solution is a Communist revolution,” protesters are heard chanting. Pictures posted at Twitchy also show protesters holding signs saying “racist cops” must be “smashed” with a Communist revolution.

Paul Hampel, a reporter with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, said on Twitter that Communist Party members led Friday night’s protest while disseminating literature for their cause. “A century later,” he said in another tweet, “a Trotsky-esque plea toward National Guard troops: ‘turn the guns around and shoot the bosses down.'”

Older protesters, he said, made references to Kent State, the site of a protest in Ohio where anti-Vietnam War demonstrators were killed. Hampel also posted several Vine videos to his Twitter feed, and said that 15 people were arrested, citing Dept. of Public Safety spokesman Mike O’Connell.

I have,and the police don’t treat the white folks any better than they treat the black folks-and they treat both like shit.

I’ve been harassed,profiled because of long hair and tattoos-back before everyone had tats,and the only other people with long hair were aging hippies who were bald on top,and had a gray ponytail.

I’ve been accused by police of being a dope dealer,a Hell’s Angel,an illegal Mexican immigrant-that one was one hell of a stretch…

The black people are not just making shit up when they say the police are profiling them.

I’ve had police beat the shit out of me-then claim the video of that night was lost.

I’ve had police just make shit up and charge me with it.

I’ve had police and prosecutors write fairy tales to get an indictment.

I’ve seen the same thing done to others.

I’ve seen police and prosecutors take what should have been no more than a misdemeanor disorderly conduct,and write a police report that read like a fiction novel,seen prosecutors lead jurors to believe the person who committed what should have been a misdemeanor that the accused was a cross between Ghengis Khan,Atilla the Hun,Hitler,and Charles Manson.

I know guys who got YEARS in prison based on pure bullshit made up by police and prosecutors.

Remember-there are so many obscure laws,so many administrative regulations-that any prosecutor,in any city,can indict-and convict anyone of any crime they choose-with the possible exception of murder,rape and kidnapping.

Police and prosecutors work for .gov inc. not you,the citizen,as they are supposed to.

Police and prosecutors WILL do the same thing to white folks that they do in every officer involved shooting when it’s a white cop shooting a black guy.

Right now, .gov inc. is repeating the narrative over and over that southern,white,Christian males-those in the liberty movement,patriot movement,and militias are the “enemy”. As are those who support smaller government,the Constitution,the second amendment/gun rights,lower taxes,and those who are opposed to illegal immigration,and support securing the border.

Ferguson is being used by .gov inc. just as Watertown and the “lockdown” and house to house search was used.

It’s practice for .gov inc. they keep pushing farther and farther-and people are just accepting this bullshit.

You can bet the last dollar you have that the police,prosecutors and the rest of .gov inc. are going to start treating white people the same way.

Why do you think leftist tools like Mark Potok and the SPLC -along with the useful idiots that comprise the mainstream media-are pushing the narrative that white guys who fall into any of the categories mentioned above are “the enemy”?

AS long as the “public” meaning those who are nothing more than wage slaves who sit around and watch “reality” tee vee,know more about who’s going to win dancing with the stars or American idol than what’s going on in the world,and know who the Kardashians are,but can not identify any of the founding fathers in a photo,don’t know who their congresscritters or senators are-see whoever .gov inc. is portraying as the current “enemy” as the current “enemy” they ain’t gonna do a damn thing when .gov inc. Pregnant St. Louis woman loses left eye after police officer shoots non-lethal round at car

A pregnant St. Louis woman lost her left eye after a violent run-in with law enforcement earlier this week.

Dornnella Conners says an officer fired a non-lethal bean-bag round at the car she was in – shattering the passenger side window.

Shards of glass bloodied her face and robbed her of sight in her left eye, according to reports.

“I will have justice for what they did to me but I’m happy I’m alive,” she wrote on Facebook on Thanksgiving.

Conners was injured early Tuesday morning shortly after the announcement that Darren Wilson would not be indicted in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Crowds of demonstrators had taken to the streets to protest what they consider a travesty of justice.

Conners, who was angry about the grand jury’s decision, and her boyfriend, De’Angelas Lee, were parked at a BP gas station on New Halls Ferry Road in St. Louis, just north of Ferguson, KMOV reported.

As her boyfriend started to drive away, she says, several police officers arrived.

“They pulled up while we were coming towards the street, De’Anglas was trying to get away, they blocked us from the side, front and back,” Conners told the CBS affiliate.

That’s when an officer fired the bean bag round because he feared for his safety, police said.

Conners found another officer who could help her get medical attention.

Dornella’s father, Donnell Conners, says he understands that the cops have a difficult job to do but there was no excuse for what happened to his daughter.

“I’m very upset, very disappointed with tactics that they used trying to get control of situation,” he told KMOV. “I understand tough job, I understand that it was chaos, there was no reason to fire upon innocent person sitting in a vehicle.”
