(ANTIMEDIA) NEW YORK, NY- NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton announced Thursday that 350 heavily armed NYPD officers, called the “Strategic Response Group,” will soon be patrolling protests and the city at large.

He said the new strain of hyper-armed police will be

“…equipped and trained in ways that our normal patrol officers are not. They’ll be equipped with all the extra heavy protective gear, with the long rifles and machine guns — unfortunately sometimes necessary in these instances.”

Bratton announced  their purpose is specifically

“…designed for dealing with events like our recent protests, or incidents like Mumbai or what just happened in Paris.”

Lumping protesters in with terrorists, he said the permanent force will deal with “disorder control and counterterrorism protection capabilities.” It will allegedly assist on crime scenes and help with “crowd control and other large-scale events.”

It is not unusual for authorities to ramp up “security” efforts following attacks (such as the ax attack against officers in October), but the idea of machine-gun clad officers is disturbing, especially considering past NYPD abuses of protesters and other residents.

The federal government, which has attempted to feign concern with police brutality, is partially funding the militarized venture. The Department of Homeland Security is supplying resources, as is the city of New York. The Pentagon has previously provided machine guns, ammuniton, and other military gear to New York police and other local cops around the country.

The program is set to begin with two precincts in Queens and two in Manhattan, though Bratton did not specify when. During the announcement at a Police Foundation breakfast at the Mandarin Hotel, Bratton also said his plan was backed by both Mayor Bill de Blasio (who came under fire from cops last year) and the city council.

He said the effort is intended to improve police relations with communities since “regular” police will no longer be called from their local precincts to deal with protests and alleged security threats:

“For years we’ve been asking our officers to engage in the community, but we’ve never given them time to do it, or the training.”

Such “crises” will now be handled by the machine gunning cops (machine guns are banned for private citizens). Bratton has also previously asked the city for more tasers to “improve relations” by reducing fatal shootings.

In his Thursday announcement, Bratton additionally called on the MTA to install cameras on all subways-for safety, of course.

Unsurprisingly, there is outrage against the proposed plan. Priscilla Gonzalez, Organizing Director of Communities United for Police Reform, said Bratton’s

“…demands for less oversight of the NYPD and a more militarized police force that would use counter-terrorism tactics against protesters are deeply misguided and frankly offensive. We need an NYPD that is more accountable to New Yorkers and that stops criminalizing our communities, especially when people are taking to the streets to voice legitimate concerns about discriminatory and abusive policing. Despite growing evidence that discriminatory broken windows is a failed and harmful policing strategy, Commissioner Bratton stubbornly continues to defend and expand it.”

The move comes as crime has dropped in New York and the police ticket-writing boycott in protest of Mayor de Blasio led to no increase in conflict.

BREAKING: New NYPD Policy To Patrol Protests With Machine Guns

Facets of federal government have isolated themselves from the public they serve. They covet and withhold public information that we, as citizens, own. They bully and threaten access of journalists who do their jobs, news organizations that publish stories they don’t like and whistleblowers who dare to tell the truth.

When I reported on factual contradictions in the administration’s accounts regarding Fast and Furious, pushback included a frenzied campaign with White House officials trying to chill the reporting by calling and emailing my superiors and colleagues, and using surrogate bloggers to advance false claims. One White House official got so mad, he angrily cussed me out.

The Justice Department used its authority over building security to handpick reporters allowed to attend a Fast and Furious briefing, refusing to clear me into the public Justice Department building.

Advocates had to file a lawsuit to obtain public information about Fast and Furious improperly withheld under executive privilege. Documents recently released show emails in which taxpayer paid White House and Justice Department press officials complained that I was “out of control,” and vowed to call my bosses to try to stop my reporting.

Let me emphasize that my reporting was factually indisputable. Government officials weren’t angry because I was doing my job poorly. They were panicked because I was doing my job well.

Many journalists have provided their own accounts.

The White House made good on its threat to punish C-SPAN afterC-SPAN dared to defy a White House demand to delay airing a potentially embarrassing interview with the President.

Fifty news organizations, including CBS and the Washington Post wrote the White House objecting to unprecedented restrictions on the press that raise constitutional concerns.

A New York Times photographer likened White House practices to the Soviet news agency Tass.

Former Washington Post executive editor Len Downie called the Obama War on Leaks “by far the most aggressive” he’s seen since Nixon.

David Sanger of the New York Times called this “the most closed, control freak administration” he’s ever covered.

New York Times public editor Margaret Sullivan said it’s “the administration of unprecedented secrecy and unprecedented attacks on a free press.”

ABC News correspondent Ann Compton calledObama “the least transparent of the seven presidents” she’s covered.

Months before we knew the Justice Department had secretly seized AP phone records and surveilled FOX News’ James Rosen, before Director of National Intelligence James Clapper incorrectly testified under oath that Americans weren’t subject to mass data collection… I was tipped off that the government was likely secretly monitoring me due to my reporting.

— Judges in Washington state would be able to temporarily take away the guns of people whom family members or police consider at extreme risk of violence under a bill filed Wednesday.

The bill, introduced in both the state House and Senate, would allow a judge to prevent a person from having any firearms or a concealed-pistol license for a year after a relative or law enforcement officer requests a hearing based on recent behavior.

“This seems to me to strike a really good kind of common-sense, balanced approach to look at folks where there is an extreme risk and make sure we provide as much protection as we can,” said Rep. Laurie Jinkins, D-Tacoma, who filed the House version of the bill and plans to bring it before the House Judiciary Committee she chairs.

According to a draft of the bill, a person with a pattern of violent acts or threats, drug abuse, brandishing weapons recklessly or domestic violence, among other acts, could have their firearms taken away by authorities. Judges would also be allowed to consider whether a person has violated a harassment restraining order and whether the person has bought guns within the last six months.

The protective order could be renewed for a second year if a judge finds that the person still poses a danger.

The bill is similar to a California law enacted after a gunman killed six people near the University of California, Santa Barbara, in May, after family members noticed disturbing behavior by the gunman but lacked a legal mechanism to have his firearms taken away. Connecticut and Indiana have similar laws in place.

The National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups opposed the California legislation, saying it may create a situation where law-abiding gun owners are put in jeopardy.

Under current Washington law, family members or police who notice a person is becoming a danger don’t have a means of legal protection short of a 14-day involuntary commitment, said Geoff Potter, communications director for Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility.

“People will be able to take action before a situation becomes critical and gets out of hand,” Potter said.

Sen. David Frockt, D-Seattle, said Wednesday afternoon he is hoping to get Republicans from the Senate’s majority caucus to sign on as co-sponsors.

“Everybody recognizes that there are some people who we need to make sure don’t have access to weapons in these situations,” Frockt said.

MILFORD, Pa. (Reuters) – The Pennsylvania survivalist who eluded a 48-day manhunt after a sniper attack that killed one state trooper and wounded another pleaded not guilty on Thursday to murder charges.

Eric Frein, 31, appeared at his arraignment through a video conference from Pike County Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail.

He was asked by Judge Greg Chelak in the Pike County Courthouse whether he wanted to plead not guilty to fatally shooting Corporal Bryon Dickson and wounding Trooper Alex Douglass on Sept. 12, 2014 during a late night shift change at the Blooming Grove state police barracks.

“That’s what I wish,” Frein said in a firm voice, standing tall and still in an orange jumpsuit.

Pale, clean shaven and looking almost bookish, far from the bedraggled man he appeared at the time of his arrest, he repeatedly answered the judge’s questions about whether he had seen paperwork with a polite, “Yes, I have” and “Yes, I do.”

If convicted of the top charge of first-degree murder, Frein could face the death penalty.

Asked outside the courtroom about the possibility of a plea bargain to spare Frein from a death sentence, District Attorney Ray Tonkin, said he was “not considering a plea at this time.” He declined to discuss the case further.

Prosecutors have said Frein harbored anti-government views for years and hoped the shootings would spark a “revolution.”

After the gun violence, Frein, who lived at his parents’ home not far from the ambush site and is an experienced outdoorsman, fled into the surrounding Pocono Mountains, about 100 miles north of Philadelphia. The FBI put him on its Most Wanted List and an intensive manhunt put the community on edge for weeks – at a cost of $11 million.

He was captured by U.S. Marshals outside an abandoned airplane hangar in a former resort near Tannersville, Pennsylvania.

Judge Chelak added Frein to the March trial list but defense lawyer Michael Weinstein said he believed the case would not go to trial before 2016.

Starting out quoting Shakespeare and ending up citing Kafka, Judge Francis M. Allegra’s conclusions about ATF conduct that led him to rule in favor of retired agent Jay Dobyns in a breach of covenant suit are scathingly revealed in his previously sealed opinion. That judgment was revoked after Allegra learned of “fraud upon the court” considerations, this column reported Sunday.

Leading his opinion with a verse from Othello, Allegra pointedly let the government defendants he ruled against know he considered them to have robbed Dobyns of his “good name.” Concluding his opinion with a reference comparing Dobyns’ ordeal to that imposed by the ‘totalitarian state” in “The Trial,” and calling it “Kafkaesque,” Allegra further observed that the conduct of “certain ATF officials … bears little resemblance to the lofty sayings carved into the facades of the Department of Justice.” He was referring to “words now carved into the office rotunda of the Attorney General” that “The United States wins its point whenever justice is done its citizens in the courts.”

“Based on the breach of the covenant, the court finds that plaintiff [Dobyns] is entitled to damages in the amount of $173,000,” Allegra ordered in the opinion he has since revoked in order to pursue an investigation into further government misconduct. “The court concludes that defendant [ATF] is entitled to – nothing.”

Contained between such surprisingly literary judicial bookends is much “legalese,” and much “backstory” that in many cases reads more like a novel than like a record of dry facts. It’s almost surreal when figures from Operation Fast and Furious appear in this account, and they act in character consistent with how they established themselves in that story. This time, with additional “cast members” (and the legal document at times reads just like a script), the technique of “slow walking” (as in deliberately dragging their feet investigating the arson of Dobyns’ home) brings to mind another “walking” technique employed by ATF in that other installment of the bureau’s directed misadventures.

Preliminary Crime Stats for January-June 2014 Show Decreases

Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report, January-June 2014 Banner

Figures released today in the FBI’s Preliminary Semiannual Uniform Crime Report reveal overall declines in the number of violent crimes and property crimes reported to law enforcement during the first six months of 2014 when compared to figures from the first six months of 2013.

Violent crimes reported for January through June of 2014 were down 4.6 percent from the same time period in 2013. All of the offenses in the violent crime category—murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery—showed decreases. And the number of property crimes during the same time period decreased 7.5 percent, with all three offenses—burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft—showing declines.

The report also contains four tables. Three of the tables detail the percent change in offenses reported to law enforcement by population group, by region of the country, and by consecutive years back to 2010. The fourth table contains the number of offenses reported to law enforcement, by state, in cities with populations of more than 100,000.

The full Crime in the United States, 2014 report will be released later this year.

The chairman of the National Committee of the Communist Party USA has penned a 2,023-word manifesto making the critical point that American Communists are eager to work with the Democratic Party to advance the modern communist agenda and achieve communist goals.

Communist Party chairman John Bachtell published his essay last week at People’s World, a “daily news website of, for and by the 99% and the direct descendant of the Daily Worker.”

“[L]abor and other key social forces are not about to leave the Democratic Party anytime soon,” Bachtell promised. “They still see Democrats as the most realistic electoral vehicle” to fight against perceived class enemies.

Bachtell, 58, is playing the long political game and he has a strategy, he said.

“First, we are part of building the broadest anti-ultra right alliance possible, uniting the widest array of class (including a section of monopoly), social and democratic forces. This necessarily means working with the Democratic Party,” the communist leader explained.

“Second, our objective is not to build the Democratic Party. At this stage we are about building the broad people’s movement led by labor that utilizes the vehicle of the Democratic Party to advance its agenda,” Bachtell further expounded. “We are about building the movements around the issues roiling wide sections of people that can help shape election contours and debates.”

“[W]e are for building movements in the electoral arena and see engagement in the electoral arena and democratic governance as a vital means to further build movements,” Bachtell also said.

To that end, he claimed, “thousands of trade unionists have been elected” at municipal and local levels of American government. Bachtell did not note a party affiliation of these elected leaders.

The rest of Bachtell’s declaration is mostly a somewhat modernized version of the same, garden-variety communist drivel communists have been spouting since roughly 1840.

Communists and other leftists have experienced “disillusionment with the Democratic Party” because of its “deep connections to Wall Street.” He is still mad at President Bill Clinton for NAFTA and welfare reform.

He’s mad at everyone about an increased number of private schools.

Republicans are an embodiment of caricatured evil for Bachtell.

“While the Republican Party is led by the most reactionary sections of Wall Street capital including the energy extractive sector and military industrial complex, it also consists of extreme right-wing elements including the Tea Party, white supremacists, social conservatives, right-wing evangelicals, climate deniers, anti-reproductive rights groups, etc.,” the communist leader writes.

Bachtell possesses a bachelor’s degree from Antioch College, an obscure, private hothouse of leftism that went defunct in 2008 and was resurrected in 2011 as an unaccredited, private work college.

A Message From Washington State: Our Fight Is Your Fight

Posted: January 29, 2015 by gamegetterII in Uncategorized

I’ve mentioned many times recently that this Bloomberg et-al caused BS is coming to a state near all of us very soon.
We all need to help those in Wa. fight this stuff-or Bloomberg, Ms. Watts and friends are going to get similar BS enacted one state at a time.

Statewide the harvest is only down 8% or so,but that is misleading,as some counties with low deer populations are showing almost a 50% increase-while some counties with high deer populations are showing a 20% or greater decrease.

The total harvest isn’t that far off,but some of the counties that have been consistently in the top 10 for total deer harvest are the ones showing the biggest drops in harvest numbers.

Such as-

Wood county shows a 47.7% increase in deer harvest-the total number of deer harvested in 2013-14 was 717.

Total for 2014-14 is 1,059 That 47.7% increase is a difference of 342 deer.

Guernsey county shows a 21.94% decrease. 2013-14 total was 5,259.

Total for 2014-15 is 4,105 that 21.94% decrease is a difference of  1,154 deer.

See the problem?  The DNR is counting 342 deer as a 47.7% increase while counting a decrease of 1,154 deer as only a 21.94% decrease.

Looking at the comparison data-almost all the counties that show increases are the counties with very low harvests, which represent very few deer, while to counties showing decreases are almost all counties that traditionally have had high harvests.

Presenting the data this way is the ODNR manipulating the numbers to hide the overall decline in the deer herd’s numbers.

Michigan Coyotes Take Down Horse

And people think I’m making the shit up about coyotes killing adult deer, and being the reason for decline in deer herd numbers in multiple states…

The Lapeer County, Michigan Sheriff’s Mounted Unit announced on Sunday that one of their horses died as a result of a predatory coyote attack over the weekend. The horse’s owner, Lapeer County Sheriff Deputy Kallie Meyers, had been keeping the animal in a paddock near a barn on her property. On Sunday afternoon, a pack of five to six coyotes charged onto Meyers’ property and managed to bring the mare down before the owners were able to intervene by releasing their dogs on the predators.

Meyers’ dogs were eventually able to chase the pack off the property, but the horse’s injuries from the attack were too severe and it had to be put down.

“They came in the yard to get our horse,” Bruce Meyers wrote on Facebook. “Within 70 feet of the house. Our dogs went to help, managed to chase them off but one dog is chewed up, others have only a few scratches and minor punctures.”

It was not the first time that the predators have encroached upon the Meyers’ farm in Oxford Township. Kallie Meyers explained that coyotes have killed several farm animals on her property in the past.

Reports of coyotes attacking large animals in broad daylight are troubling to biologists. Coyotes are known for being shy around humans, and usually limit their hunts to smaller animals at night. In Michigan, it is legal to shoot or trap coyotes year-round on private property and there is no bag limit during regular seasons. Wildlife experts noted that humans and larger animals usually have very little to fear from coyotes.

“Reports of coyotes attacking large animals in broad daylight are troubling to biologists.”

Really? The same biologists who have done studies that confirm eastern coyotes have a considerable amount of wolf DNA are now finding it “troubling” that packs of ‘yotes are killing large animals? I wonder how “troubling” they are going to find it when the population of our deer herds crash? Or when the first young child is attacked by a pack of ‘yotes?
I’ve made multiple posts asking deer hunters
to start shooting yotes, and letting them know that they will see fewer and fewer deer until the ‘yote population is seriously reduced. The only good thing I’ve noticed since the ‘yote population exploded in NE Ohio is that the feral cat population had been reducedwhich is a plus-as NE Ohio deer have been found to be carrying the organism that causes toxoplasmosis-which can ONLY be spread by cat feces, less cat shit in the woods is always a plus, along with less of a chance of getting toxoplasmosis.
Since the wildlife biologists and the DNR/state fish and game agencies
in Michigan,Ohio,Illinois,Indiana,Pa,and W.Va. don’t seem to believe that the ‘yotes are the reason for the decline in deer numbers, and do not seem to believe that ‘yotes are killing up to 7 out of every 10 fawns in many areas-it’s up to deer hunters to get the ‘yote population under control.

Most states have either no limit or very liberal limits on the number of ‘yotes you can shoot.

Fur prices are up this year,so you can more than cover your expenses-including ammo, food and gas.

The fewer ‘yotes there are in May-the more fawns that survive-now’s the time to start reducing the ‘yote population-the state fish and game agencies ain’t gonna help do it-so anyone who wants to see the deer numbers stop the decline-get out there and start takin out ‘yotes-as many as possible.
